Dear Autumn Issue Contributors,
Happy first day of autumn! We're excited to publish your creative work in our upcoming Autumn 2014 Issue of The Lincoln Underground, with its theme of Sleeping, Dreaming and Nightmares. This e-mail brings all kinds of details about the issue release, reading event, and more.
Autumn Issue Release: The issue's almost here! We plan to pick up all 200 copies of the new issue from our printer this Friday, and we'll be delivering them to the local shops this weekend. They should be stocked completely by Monday morning. In case you'd like to check out the magazine at the local shops, the following businesses carry it: A Novel Idea Bookstore, Bodhi Imports, Crescent Moon Coffee, Indigo Bridge Books and Meadowlark Coffee & Espresso. Their addresses can be found on our web site (thelincolnunderground.com).
Your Free Contributor's Copy: Each of you will receive a free contributor's copy of the autumn issue. For those of you who live out of town, I'll plan on mailing your copy within the week after the issue's released. For those of you who live in Lincoln, we usually try to hand out copies at the reading, if possible, to save on postage. However, if you're unable to make it, I'll be glad to mail out your copy after the reading.
Buying Additional Copies: If you'd like to have additional copies, you can purchase them directly from us at a discounted price of $4 for contributors (usual prices are $5 when purchased from us or $6 when bought at local shops). I'll be happy to send additional copies by mail; just e-mail me if interested and we'll work out the details.
For those of you in or near Lincoln (or able to travel here), we hope to see you at our reading and release party! Here's the info:
Autumn 2014 Issue Reading & Release Party
Monday, September 29th, 7- 8 pm, at Crescent Moon Coffee
followed by Poetry/Prose Open Mic Night
140 N 8th Street #10 (Lower Level)
(below Ten Thousand Villages)
in Lincoln's Historic Haymarket
This reading is a part of the weekly Poetry at the Moon series, where there's a different featured reader from 7-8 or 8:30 pm each week, followed by poetry/prose open mic night. We'll be the featured readers that night, so if you plan to attend, I encourage you to come a few minutes early and sign up with me to read. I'll then start by telling a little bit about the magazine, and introduce each reader.
Please feel free to come, even if it's just to listen (we won't make you read if public reading isn't your thing), and pick up your copy of the issue, as well as meet other contributors. For those of you who are artists and photographers, we'd love it if you'd take the stage for a few minutes to tell us about your work too. We hope you'll join us for the reading, and feel free to invite your family and friends as well!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Also, I've attached the front & back cover images for a sneak preview of this issue. Aren't they cool-looking? (Credits: front cover photo by Dan Koch, back cover art by Susann Klossek, design by Amy Keller).
Thanks for being a part of The Lincoln Underground, and congratulations on your impending publication!
Happy autumn,
Amy
